Terms and conditions
Last updated:
These terms are the agreement between you and (“we”, “us”), which runs TurnDisk. By creating a TurnDisk account or using TurnDisk, you agree to them. We’ve tried to keep them short and plain.
1. What TurnDisk is
TurnDisk is an online storage service. It puts your cloud storage in Finder on your Mac as a drive, so your files live in the cloud but open and save like files on a normal disk. The TurnDisk website lets you create your account and manage your plan. The Mac app is coming soon; Windows and Linux versions are planned for later.
We keep improving TurnDisk, so features may change over time. If we remove something important that you pay for, we’ll tell you in advance.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a Google or Apple account, or with your email address and a password. TurnDisk never sees your Google or Apple password. Keeping your sign-in secure is your responsibility: if you use email, choose a password you don’t use anywhere else and keep your email account secure.
- An account is for one person. You can use it on all your own computers.
- You must be at least 18, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to use TurnDisk.
- You can see which computers are signed in to your account and sign any of them out.
3. Plans and payment
- Free gives you 1 GB at no cost, with no time limit.
- Paid plans (currently Starter and Pro) give you more space. The current prices are on our pricing section. Prices are in US dollars unless checkout shows otherwise.
- Paid plans are subscriptions. They renew automatically every month or every year, depending on what you chose, and you’re charged at the start of each period until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorise these repeat charges.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. We don’t receive or store your full card details.
- A plan belongs to your TurnDisk account, so it applies on every computer signed in with that account.
- If we change the price of a plan, we’ll tell you before your next renewal, and the new price applies only from the renewal after that notice. You can cancel before then.
- If a renewal payment fails, Razorpay may retry it. If it keeps failing, your plan ends at the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
4. Switching plans
If you switch from one paid plan to another, the new plan starts straight away and the old one stops renewing.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel a paid plan at any time on the account page. Your plan stays until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and then your account returns to Free. Refunds are covered by our cancellation and refund policy.
When a plan ends, your files are never deleted. If you’re using more space than your plan now allows, you just can’t add more until you remove some files or upgrade again.
6. Your files
Your files are yours. We don’t claim any ownership of them. You give us permission only to store, copy and transfer them as needed to run TurnDisk for you, for example to show them on your other computers.
TurnDisk keeps deleted files in its Trash for 30 days and earlier versions of files for 30 days, so you can restore them. After that they’re permanently removed. TurnDisk is built not to lose your work, but no service is perfect: for files you can’t afford to lose, keep another copy somewhere else too.
7. Fair use
You agree not to use TurnDisk to:
- store or share anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- spread malware or harm other people’s computers;
- try to get into other people’s accounts or get around TurnDisk’s security or storage limits;
- overload or disrupt the service, or resell it without our written permission.
If an account breaks these terms, or the law, we may suspend or close it. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem and get a copy of your files.
8. Storage limits
Each plan has a set amount of space. A single file can be up to 1 TB, as long as it fits in your plan’s space.
9. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from the TurnDisk app. Deleting it signs out all your computers and permanently removes your files and their information from our systems shortly afterwards. Cancel any paid plan first so that it doesn’t renew.
10. Availability
We work hard to keep TurnDisk running and your files available, but we can’t promise it will always be available without interruption, for example during maintenance or problems with the providers we rely on. Files you’ve opened before keep working on your Mac while you’re offline.
11. Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses, such as loss of profit or business. As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for TurnDisk in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that can’t be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change matters, we’ll tell you before it takes effect. If you don’t agree with the new terms, you can cancel your plan or delete your account.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of .
